Vancouver VS Vancouver
Vancouver vs Vancouver

Conceived by Fabrice Ramalingom
Choreographed by Delia Brett, Daelik, and Fabrice Ramalingom

Wow, it's really red. And there is a lot of White. Is the piece about Canada? You look like team members- why are you fighting each other?  Is the piece about the Vancouver contemporary dance scene? You are with each other but not relating to each other, is the piece about disconnection?  Do these thoughts we hear go with the dance? Is this a narrative? How come it doesn't give me what I expect? What’s the story?  There is no story.  There are a lot of other things, though.

Aesthetically simple , the piece explores the complex machination of the theatre and questions the perceptive function of sound and words in Dance. Two dancers, one male and one female, dressed in  red with a touch of white, confront each other, confront the theatre and challenge the viewer’s notions of story and dance. What is the dance? What is the story? What's it really about? Fabrice Ramalingom is an esteemed choreographer from Montpellier, France. He worked collaboratively with creator/dancers Delia Brett and Daelik to create a dance of bold proportions.

Vancouver vs Vancouver was presented in Quebec City March 29/30 and will be presented in Setè, France May 30 and in Thessaloniki, Greece June 14, 2008.
